✨ Revaly 2022-05-18 Update — Units, Reactions, Transparency… and more!

We’ve been hard at work since our last update… we are thrilled with the progression of Revaly, and are excited to share the newest updates!

🛠 Introduction: Team Updates

We’ve been hard at work since our last update… so hard that it took us a few days to write the release notes. With that said, we are thrilled with the progression of Revaly, and are excited to share the newest updates!

🆕 New Features

✅ Experimental features out of experimental

We had fun experimenting, but now we feel good about the stability of several of our most requested experimental features!

You can now quickly measure the curves of objects by using the new “Show Curve Measurements” tool in the toolbar.

To ensure measurement annotations are accurately placed, measurement annotations now automatically snap to the edge - made even easier by seeing the start, middle, and endpoints on each highlighted edge.

Engineers and artists loved the orthographic camera feature, so we made sure to include it in the toolbar. You can now quickly and easily adjust your camera perspective with a simple click.

Units of measure has long been a highly requested feature, but we knew that if we were going to do this, we needed to do it right. You can now adjust the unit of measure on objects in a variety of ways!

We know that sometimes the base units of a file aren’t always the same as the units you want to see. That’s why we made it easy to adjust each of these independently, at a per-space level, in the space settings menu.

To ensure that you always see units in the way that’s best for you, you now determine the default space units, or you can just default to millimeters like the good 'ole days.

We know that sometimes inside a space, models may be developed in different units, to account for this you can now determine the units of measure at a per-asset level, in addition to setting the default for the space.

Sometimes less isn’t always more. You can now adjust the precision measurements displayed within each asset… we even went to the .00001, just to be extra precise.

👻 Transparent parts

Seeing how things fit together is essential, and now you don’t have to dive into an assembly to get an at-a-glance view of the inner workings of a part. Simply turn on “set parts as transparent” to quickly see every component, at the same time.

Transparency

😮 Emoji reactions

If a picture is worth a thousand words, what is an emoji worth? We’re not sure… but you can now leave reactions to individual messages so you can save time, without losing clarity.

🌥 Floor Shadow (experimental)

Where is the floor? Good question… well now you can find out by turning on, “show floor shadow” under experimental features. This allows you to get an additional sense of scale and depth, without modifying the file.

↩️ Use esc to leave any main model

No picture to show here. It just works.

🖼 Improved file viewer

The viewer now has improved more accurate edges, along with better color accuracy, so your parts look even more perfect than before!
